Cleaning the kitchen efficiently and effectively takes some practice, but once you learn how to clean a kitchen, you will be able to easily maintain it. Apart from your own expertise, you will need an excellent cleaning product to help you. Read on to learn how to thoroughly rid your kitchen of every impurity.

Surfaces

The kitchen contains more germs than any room in the house. Cleaning the kitchen surfaces can help keep your home healthy.

  • From top to bottom, spray surfaces with a disinfectant cleaner like Dettol® Power Kitchen Cleaner.
  • Take out the trash from the trash can and use Dettol® Disinfecting Spray to spray the outside of the garbage can. Wipe down thoroughly and replace the bin liner.
  • Wipe down cabinet doors, backsplashes, counters, and walls with a cleaning cloth. Grease and grime can build easily on these surfaces and become magnets for germs.
  • Clean crevices around the sink and faucet with a toothbrush.
  • Flush drains with boiling water once a week.
  • Wipe down the dishwasher door with Dettol® Disinfecting Wipes.
  • Sweep nightly to prevent dust and grime build-up. As needed, be sure to clean hard, non-porous floors with Dettol Multi-Surface All-Purpose Cleaner.

Large Appliances

  • Clean the stove with a degreasing cleaner. Make it a practice to take out the burners to clean separately with soap and water. The burners may carry food spills and splashes and require periodic degreasing.
  • Remove stove control knobs to wash them and the surface behind the knob.
  • Clean out your refrigerator thoroughly, throwing away all expired food.
  • With a gentle cleaner, wipe down surfaces inside the refrigerator and scrub out any sticky spills.

Small Appliances

The small appliances in your kitchen can account for some of the germiest items in the house. Be sure you know that cleaning the kitchen means cleaning these overlooked areas.

  • Every week, empty the toaster of crumbs. Turn it upside down into the trash, or empty the crumb tray.
  • Wipe down the outside of the microwave with Dettol® Disinfecting Wipes, and clean the interior with warm, soapy water.
  • Wipe down the outside of the coffeemaker with a multi-purpose cleaner.
  • Flush the interior of the coffeemaker with a solution comprising two cups of half white vinegar and half water.

Knowing how to clean a kitchen is half the battle won – with these tips in mind, you'll be able to efficiently keep your home healthy.
