Before diving into scrubbing and disinfecting, a little preparation can make your bathroom cleaning much more efficient.
Here’s how to clean your bathroom:
Start by taking out all bathmats, rugs, and used towels from the bathroom. Shake them out outside if needed, then place them in the laundry to be washed and dried. Use a vacuum to quickly pick up hair, dust, and debris from the floor. This clears the space and prevents dirt from spreading during deep cleaning.
Grab a microfiber cloth or duster and tackle the highest surfaces that require dusting. This includes light fixtures, countertops, the exterior of the toilet, and baseboards. If possible, use a stick vacuum instead of dusting; this is especially effective for the toilet's exterior, baseboards, and, specifically, the floors.
Spray Dettol glass cleaner onto mirrors and any glass surfaces until a light mist appears on the surface. Wipe with a microfiber cloth using circular motions to avoid streaks. Focus on the corners where dust and grime tend to accumulate. Be sure to switch sides on your cloth and buff to a dry, shiny finish. Additionally, you can also use a squeegee to keep things streak-free.
Next, spray faucets, handles, and showerheads with a Dettol bathroom cleaner spray. Let it sit for atleast 5 minutes to break down tough stains, water spots, soap scums, grime and kill 99% of germs and bacteria.
Use a small scrub brush or sponge to clean dirt from the seams of fixtures. Then, dry these areas with a clean cloth to achieve a sparkling, polished finish that makes your bathroom look fresh and well-maintained.
Clear everything off the countertops, including toiletries and decor. Spray the surface with a Dettol disinfectant surface spray, focusing on corners and around sink edges where grime tends to accumulate, and allow it to air dry to leave the counters spotless, sanitized, and ready for use.
Apply Dettol bathroom cleaner spray to sinks, tubs, and shower walls. Let it sit for a few minutes, then use a moistened, non-abrasive scrubber to gently scrub the sink, tub, and shower walls, paying special attention to stained or textured areas. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove all remaining dirt and residue from cleaning products.
Apply toilet bowl cleaner inside the bowl, ensuring it reaches under the rim. Let it sit for a few minutes while you spray the outside of the toilet with Dettol disinfectant surface spray.
Afterwards, scrub with a toilet brush to eliminate stubborn stains, then flush to leave your toilet sparkling clean. Wipe down the seat, lid, handle, and base with a Disinfectant multi-surface wipe for a complete, germ-free clean.
Vacuum the bathroom floor, making sure to reach all corners to remove hair, dust, and debris. For the baseboards, use a Disinfectant multi-surface wipe, but remember to dispose of them properly – don’t flush them.
Then, mop the floor using a Multi-purpose floor cleaner (liquid) that is safe for your tile type. Remember that cleaning the bathroom floor should be the last step on your to-do list, so it stays clean and tidy.
Apply Disinfectant surface spray or use several Multi-surface wipes on frequently touched surfaces or particularly dirty spots, like cabinet and faucet handles, doorknobs, and the toilet seat.
Finish your bathroom-cleaning routine by emptying the trash can and wiping down the lid if applicable. Refill the soap dispensers to ensure no one runs out when it's most needed. Verify that toilet paper and other essential items are adequately stocked. Finally, return your clean bath mats and hang fresh towels.
