Nowadays, there is nothing that you can be sure about, apart from the fact that we, human beings, are weak creatures. Our bodies are easily affected or more appropriately put, can be invaded by foreign organisms that cause illness or in severe cases life threating conditions. Yes! We are talking about bacterial and viral infections. Understanding these diseases is as important as knowing about disease protection. If you know a thing or two, it’s good but even if that’s not the case then don’t you worry because we got you covered.

Since the inception of this world, humans have been trying to achieve a better quality of life and that is directly related to better health. Better or improved health comes from knowledge of our body and how to keep dangerous diseases at bay. To this day, there are some diseases that we don’t understand but this doesn’t mean that we can’t protect ourselves against them, does it?

Closing the Gap

In order to bridge the aforementioned gap we have come up with this piece to help you out. Germs are found everywhere – literally everywhere. You can find them in your closet, your shoes, your clothes, on your hands, and yeah inside your body too. Don’t look down, you can’t see them with naked eye. You’d need a microscope to see them and to be honest who has the time? But yeah, our experts can and that’s why they have come up with a range of products able to kill these germs and help you protect yourself and your loved ones.

Types of Infectious agents

These pesky little germs come in many forms and shapes and they sure love to hide. There are about five types.

Viruses

Viruses are made up of a viral genome from nucleic acid surrounded by capsid, which is actually a fancy protein coat. Now the viruses can either be single stranded i.e. RNA viruses or double stranded i.e. DNA viruses. A virus can’t survive without a host cell and pretty much dies without a host.

Bacteria

As for bacteria, these are single celled prokaryotic organisms having no organized internal structure. These reproduce by growing and dividing. Now the morphologies can vary from being spherical, rod-shaped, to helical rods. There are two main types: Gram positive and gram negative. One should know about bacteria prevention because this is something that can save you from many common diseases present around you.

Protozoa

These are also unicellular organisms. The widely known paramecium and amoeba are included in this group. These can get in your food and water, if it’s contaminated, and also through those mosquitoes aka mozzies.

Fungi

Fungi are multi cellular organisms that have tough cell walls made up of cellulose or chitin. These reproduce by spores. The famous ringworm and histoplasmosis diseases are examples of these pathogens.

Helminths

These are your common parasitic worms that are invertebrates. Helminthes are multicellular and have a somewhat complex structure when it comes to body tissues. The diseases are commonly caused by flatworm, roundworm, human pinworm, and others. The infections caused by these organisms are difficult to treat because the drugs that act on them are potentially dangerous to human body too.

Ways to prevent bacterial infections

Now that you know about the common causative agents of diseases, you must try and learn ways to prevent bacterial infections as well as viral infections. With every day evolving viruses and bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics, we can all safely agree on one thing i.e. Prevention is better than cure.

The DO’s and Don’ts

When it comes to preventing bacterial infections the first and the foremost thing to do is to practice good hygiene. Now this includes:

  • Wash your hands with Dettol Original Bar soap twice a day.
  • While coughing cover your mouth appropriately so that the droplets don’t spread
  • Don’t leave your wounds open. Always make sure to disinfect and bandage all your cuts. As the bacteria might seep through open wounds and cause infection in your body.
  • Don’t share your eating plates, glasses, and other utensils.
  • Always discard tissues and napkins after use and avoid direct contact with used disposable items.

Dealing with Viruses

Protection against Viruses is not that different. Practicing good hygiene and following precautionary measures can help you get out of quick sand easily.

  • Rinse all food for example; fish, vegetables, poultry, meat, or anything before cooking
  • Cook foods thoroughly up to the prescribed temperatures.
  • Don’t put raw and cooked food together or don’t use the same utensils without washing.
  • Vaccinations are a must. Don’t ever say no to vaccination because this can help you build immunity against many viruses and bacteria.
  • If you are travelling outside the country or even to remote areas then just take travelling precautions such as using bottled water and eating hygienic and properly cooked foods.
  • Make sure that you and your partner are both tested for Sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Avoid getting bugged by mosquitos and ticks.

So, these are some of the simple and basic precautions that you can take to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from common diseases which might turn out to be ugly for some. If you still have any questions, or would like to get in touch then contact us right away. Till then, happy reading!
