Diaper Changing Tips: Keeping Clean on the Go

Diaper changing can be one of the most challenging tasks in baby care, not least because your baby can get squirmy. Plus, it can get doubly difficult when you’re on the go. Hence, being prepared is important. While parents may quickly become pros at packing their trusty diaper bags, often they miss one essential item. This item goes a long way in ensuring their baby’s safety and well-being, as well as their own: disinfectant. We've got a couple simple diaper-changing tips that should help you to clean diaper changing areas quickly for your baby’s safety:

  • Prep the space: When you’re changing diapers at home, you know the last time that you cleaned your changing table. (Hopefully, right after the last time you used it!) However, when you’re on the go, typically the only way to know whether or not the changing table you’re about to place your child on is safe and sanitary is by cleaning it yourself. This is where Dettol® Disinfecting Wipes can come in handy. Always carry cleaning wipes with you and give the space a good wipe-down before you place any of your belongings on it.
  • Change the diaper: When you’re finished, show some respect for your fellow moms and dads: clean up the space for them, just like you would at home. The parents who come after you will silently thank you for your thoughtfulness.
  • Wipe down anything you’ve touched, as well, like any rash cream containers, for instance.
  • Wash your hands when you’re done! Despite your disinfecting, you’ve still been around some nasty stuff. Don’t share dangerous germs with your child – wash up after you’re done with the process.

These tips will help you get through your baby's diaper changing stage safely. Don’t worry – this phase is just temporary! Once it’s over, you might look back on it fondly and thank yourself for keeping your baby safe during the diaper changing phase.
